STUDENTS ACCCOMMODATION POLICY
Aim and Purpose
This policy establishes guidelines and procedures and code of conduct for student
accommodation. It further ensures that there is fairness and equity in the allocation of off-campus
accommodation for Arrupe Jesuit University students.
Genera information
The rental fees include accommodation, water usage, electricity, catering, Wi-Fi, sport facilities
of the University and other essential utilities.
Tenants should be familiar with these rules and regulations as well as the Arrupe Jesuit
University Child Protection and Safeguarding policy which applies on the student’s residence
premises.
General rules for the usage of the kitchen and common areas will be displayed on the notice
board of the common areas.
The department of students’ accommodation will have regular (at least once a semester) a
meeting with the tenants to address issues related to the communal life in the hostels.
The tenants who breaches these rules and regulations will be submitted to different disciplinary
actions going from simple warning, to eviction and submission to the accommodation
disciplinary committee of Arrupe Jesuit University.
Arrupe Jesuit University has the right to update this policy in case of need.
Allocation
Arrupe Jesuit University will provide off- campus accommodation to students subject to
availability. The office of students’ affairs manages the accommodation. The allocation of rooms
will be based on a transparent process and relevant factors will be put into consideration such as
need, and distance from campus.
Application Process
Students seeking accommodation must submit their detailed application forms to the Office of
students’ affairs. The application forms can be downloaded on the website of the university or
requested in the office of the Dean of Students. The admission to Arrupe Jesuit University
Hostels is conditioned by the applicant agreement to these rules, regulations, code of conduct
and a prior interview with the Dean of students.
Allocation Criteria
International students and students with disabilities will be given preference in the allocation of
accommodation. The remaining slots will be allocated on first come-first served basis.
The University is determined to provide a safe and clean environment for its students. Therefore,
the accommodation to be provided will adhere to safety and health regulations.
The Institution will ensure that the accommodation facilities are maintained regularly therefore
students are urged to report damages and breakages timeously.

AJU STUDENTS’ ACCOMMODATION CODE OF CONDUCT
Students residing in accommodation facilities are urged to abide by the following code of conduct
established for the accommodation. Any contravention may result in disciplinary action.
1. All rentals are due on the first day of the month, the latest being the fifth day of the month.
2. There will be two coordinators (one female and one male) chosen by the tenants.
3. The coordinators will liaise with the Dean of Students Affairs over issues related to the
hostels.
4. Tenants and or their guests are not allowed to drink (alcohol), take drugs and smoke within
the premises. Those found in contempt of this rule and/or intoxicated within the hostel
compounds will be evicted.
5. Tenants are not allowed to host visitors in their rooms. Visitors are welcomed in the sitting
or living room.
6. Visitors are not allowed to sleep over.
7. No sexual activities or related acts shall be carried out within the hostel compounds; those
that are caught will be evicted.
8. It is the responsibility of tenants to keep their rooms clean and tidy.
9. Tenants are not allowed to cook within the rooms. Cooking is done in the kitchen or places
reserved for that purpose.
10. To enhance an atmosphere conducive to studying, no loud music or unnecessary noise will
be allowed within the hostel.
11. Tenants should respect the private space of other residents.
12. No parties are allowed in the rooms but celebrations like birthdays should end before 09PM.
13. All issues of vandalism shall warrant replacement of damaged property by the perpetrator,
upon which eviction may ensue.
14. All displays of violence or threatening behavior against other tenants are strictly not allowed.
15. Wi-Fi access is a complimentary facility; the Hostel Manager reserves the right to monitor
its usage in case of abuse.
16. Strictly no altering of electrical circuits, sockets or lamp holders is allowed.
17. Littering is strictly not allowed within the hostel compounds. Perpetrators will face
disciplinary action.
18. No heavy electrical appliances over 500W shall be connected to electrical sockets.
19. Tenants are not allowed to install key blockers on their doors.
20. Sexual harassment is prohibited.
21. In case a student is convicted of sexual harassment, he/she will be automatically evicted.

Montrose Hostels Rules and Regulations
- All rentals are due on the first of the month.
- Tenants are not allowed to drink or smoke within the premises. Those found in contempt of this rule and/or intoxicated within the hostel compounds will be evicted.
- Tenants are not allowed to host persons of the opposite gender in their rooms past 10 pm.
- No sexual activities or related social acts shall be carried out within the hostel compounds; those that are caught will be evicted.
- All rooms are expected to be clean at all times. Tenants with unclean rooms will be asked to clean and put their rooms in working order at a moment’s notice.
- Tenants are not allowed to cook within the rooms. Keeping food within the rooms with the intention of cooking in or outside the rooms is not allowed. Violation of this warrants eviction.
- To enhance an atmosphere conducive to studying, no loud music or unnecessary noise will be allowed within the hostel.
- All issues of vandalism shall warrant replacement of damaged property by the perpetrator, upon which eviction may ensue.
- All displays of violence or threatening behavior against other tenants are strictly not allowed. All actions of this nature will warrant eviction.
- Wi-Fi access is a complimentary facility, the Hostel Manager reserves the right to switch Wi-Fi ON or OFF and monitor its usage without notice. The Hostel Manager also reserves the right to deny internet access to students who abuse the facility.
- The bathrooms shall be kept clean and in good working order. Leaving the bathroom dirty after a bath is a punishable offence.
- Strictly no altering of electrical circuits, sockets or lamp holders is allowed. Altering of such will warrant eviction.
- Littering is strictly not allowed within the hostel compounds. Perpetrators will face disciplinary action.
- No heavy electrical appliances over 500W shall be connected to electrical sockets, this includes but not limited to the following appliances: stoves, microwaves, fridges and/or deep freezers, dishwashers, electrical heaters, fryers, and water heating kettles, water heating elements, toasters and vacuum cleaners.
- Tenants are not allowed to install key blockers on their doors.
- To ensure adherence of the outlined rules, all rooms shall be susceptible to weekly and monthly inspections without prior warning.
- Visitors are not allowed to sleep over.
