Innovation Hub
Industrialisation, under the strategic oversight of the Research, Innovation and Industrialisation
Committee. It provides a platform for transforming ideas, research and creativity into practical
solutions that respond to real-world challenges. The Hub is aligned with AJU’s commitment to
Education 5.0, which integrates teaching, research, innovation, industrialisation and community
impact, and seeks to foster a culture of creativity, entrepreneurship, problem-solving and
knowledge application across the University. Research, Innovation and Industrialisation is Key
Result Area 3 (KRA 3) of the AJU Strategic Plan 2024–2029. Its vision is for AJU to be
“Globally recognised, impactful and transformative in research and innovation.”
The Hub provides a supportive environment in which students, staff and other members of the
AJU community can generate, develop, test and refine innovative ideas, while exploring
pathways towards entrepreneurship, technology transfer, incubation, commercialisation and
societal impact.

goals.
From Ideas to Impact
Ideation → Idea Development → Prototyping → Mentorship → Incubation → Partnerships →
Commercialisation and Impact
Students and staff are encouraged to bring forward ideas that address practical challenges in their
communities, professions and industries. Promising ideas can receive support to refine the
concept, develop prototypes, identify potential users and partners, and explore pathways towards
further development and commercialisation. AJU's policy envisages support extending from the
initial project concept through prototyping, start-up creation, knowledge transfer and
commercialisation.
Training and Mentorship
The Hub supports the development of innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities through
training, workshops, mentoring and practical guidance.
Training may cover areas such as:
- Ideation and creative problem-solving
- Design thinking and solution development
- Prototyping
- Entrepreneurship and business development
- Pitching and presentation
- Intellectual property
- Technology transfer
- Commercialisation
- Business modelling and venture development
AJU’s Innovation Policy specifically provides for training students in ideation, idea
development, prototyping and turning ideas into businesses, together with mentorship and links
to appropriate incubators.
Incubation and Intellectual Property
The Innovation Hub provides an entry point for promising ideas that require further development
and support. AJU also envisages Business Incubation Centres (BICs) to provide business
incubation and coaching towards the creation of start-ups.
The Innovation Hub and Business Incubation Centres are designed to work together, with
promising ideas progressing from ideation and innovation development into more structured
business incubation and venture development.
AJU recognises that innovation requires appropriate mechanisms for protecting and transferring
knowledge and intellectual property. The Innovation Hub therefore supports awareness and
capacity development in intellectual property, technology transfer and commercialisation.
Where appropriate, innovators can be supported in exploring pathways through which AJU-
generated knowledge and innovations can be developed into products, services, technologies or
other forms of practical application.
Partnerships and Collaboration
industry, entrepreneurs, investors, government, civil society, research institutions and other
innovation ecosystems.
Such partnerships can provide access to expertise, facilities, networks, markets, funding
opportunities and other resources needed to develop and scale promising innovations. AJU's
Innovation Policy specifically emphasises partnerships with external organisations to strengthen
innovative projects and address community challenges.
Interdisciplinary Innovation
students and researchers from different fields to collaborate in developing solutions to complex
societal challenges.
Particular emphasis is placed on developing interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary innovation,
including through postgraduate research and collaboration with national and international
innovation partners.
Our Vision
problem-solving, enabling AJU students and staff to transform knowledge and creativity into
solutions that create social, economic and environmental value.
Through the Hub, AJU aims to build a community where ideas are nurtured, solutions are
developed, partnerships are formed and innovation is translated into impact.
