Arrupe Jesuit University (AJU) proudly congratulates Nicole Matambudza, a Level 3.2 Accounting and Management student, on representing both the University and Zimbabwe at the UNESCO SDG 4 Youth & Student Network Consultation Webinar on the Post-2030 Education Agenda for Africa, held on 31 July 2026.
The high-level regional consultation brought together young leaders, students, policymakers, and education stakeholders from across Africa to contribute to shaping the future of education beyond the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 framework.
Convened under UNESCO’s leadership, the consultation forms part of a global process to develop the Post-2030 Education Agenda, ensuring that the experiences, aspirations, and recommendations of young people are reflected in future education policies.
During the webinar, participants engaged in discussions on strengthening education systems, empowering teachers, addressing youth unemployment, promoting future-ready skills, and ensuring inclusive, equitable, and quality education across the continent.
Reflecting on the experience, Nicole said:
“Engaging in this regional consultation under UNESCO was a transformative experience. We brought real, ground-level perspectives to the table—from high youth unemployment to resource deficits. Our collective message to global leaders was clear: to build a prosperous and peaceful Africa, we must build education systems that equip students with adaptive skills while giving teachers the institutional support they deserve.”
Nicole’s participation demonstrates the important role that young people play in influencing policy discussions that will shape education across Africa for generations to come. It also reflects Arrupe Jesuit University’s commitment to nurturing graduates who think critically, engage globally, and contribute meaningfully to the common good.
